We engineered a 400km cross-border pipeline connecting Chad’s landlocked reserves to Cameroon’s export terminals. Facing complex regulatory hurdles and difficult terrain, our team delivered the project six weeks early, unlocking 50,000 bpd of new export capacity.
Challenge
The route crossed three distinct jurisdictions with conflicting environmental laws and required traversing dense rainforest and swamp lands. Financing was stalled due to perceived political risk, and traditional construction methods were deemed too destructive and costly for the sensitive swamp ecosystems, threatening to halt the project indefinitely.
Solution
OilNational structured a sovereign-backed insurance facility to mitigate political risk, unlocking the necessary capital. We utilized advanced directional drilling technology to install pipeline sections deep beneath the swamp surface, minimizing environmental disruption and avoiding delicate root systems. Furthermore, our legal team negotiated a unified transit agreement between the three governments, standardizing tariffs and creating a binding framework that ensured seamless, uninterrupted flow from wellhead to port regardless of local political shifts.
